Illustrator and animator Quentin Jones uses paint and collage to adapt photographs of animals and the female body to create powerful and humorous images. Jones was recently shortlisted for a V&A Illustration Award and it is evident that her name is steadily on the rise as an innovative London artist. Her recent collaborations include pairing up with Chanel Particuliere, making a short, chic and lovely film for AnOther magazine.
Aswell as working for AnOther Magazine, Jones has been commissioned to create beautiful illustrations and animations for Underlining Colours, Grit Magazine and fashion label E. Tautz. Her quirky and imaginative style transforms, everyday objects to create stunning and sometimes erotic images, yet all with a sensitivity which means most viewers would be pleased to hang one of her illustrations on their wall. Jones is influenced by the Surrealist movement, and her work combines their original intentions with contemporary content in order to transform recognised images into Dali-esque morphism. All this is done with a dark humour, pairing Disney theme soundtracks with cut up images of famous faces as if composing a ransom note.
Having graduated only two years ago from Central Saint Martin's with a distinction in Illustration, there is much more to come from Quentin, and the fashion and art world better be prepared to embrace the weird and wonderful world of Miss Jones.
